WE would like to send a message of congratulations to Susan and Stephen, who recently got married.

They obviously received some very nice presents. What a shame WE were given an unwanted gift - six bags of discarded present boxes dumped quite deliberately on the grass verge of Green Lane in Lowton.

We, like many other people, often walk down Green Lane as part of a pleasant tour around Pennington Flash, so we were horrified to find Susan and Stephen's discarded boxes, wrappings and other household rubbish.

Someone clearly couldn't be bothered to drive the extra half mile to the official tip in Slag Lane - they thought they'd leave someone else with the problem.

They even discarded an envelope with Stephen's address on it, so we were sorely tempted to go and tip it over his back wall, but no - we did what should have been done in the first place and took it to the tip.

Green Lane is a regular dropping place for litter, and people obviously don't think about the consequences of such selfishness. Last year, we found a milk bottle with six dead field mice inside - they'd crawled in to drink the left over milk and then became trapped.

So to everyone who does this sort of thing, please take your rubbish and litter home... be a little more considerate.
