BURY made it three wins out of three on Saturday with a convincing 3-0 victory over Scunthorpe United.
It added another three vital points to the Shakers promotion campaign and kept them firmly in the play off picture.
Skipper David Pugh, scorer of a superb third goal said "all you can do is win the game and hope the others slip up. We have got to believe in ourselves and everyone at the club has got to believe in us. The supporters have got to get behind us. Confidence is sky high at the moment with three straight wins."
The first half lacked goalmouth action. Scunthorpe were unlucky not to get a penalty in the 20th minute when Dean West handled on the edge of the area. And United keeper Mark Samways was lucky to stay on the pitch when he flattened Rob Mathews in a one-to-one,
Then came the breakthrough. On 41 minutes Mathews ran clear flanked by four defenders. Russell Bradley brought him down and Mark Carter made no mistake with the penalty - his second in two games taking his goal tally to 13 so far this season.
Stan Ternent said he 'had a few words' at half time and Bury bombarded United's goal in the opening minute after the interval.
Mathews had a close range strike spectacularly saved by Samways but he could not stop Lenny Johnrose's flick header on 59 minutes,
It was then Bury's turn to be on the defensive but only lanky Scunthorpe striker Andy McFarlane, really threatened.
Pugh's superb solo offering made it three on 76 minutes when he ran almost half the length of the field and slotted than ball past Samways.
Stan was delighted after the match but admitted "there are still 14 matches left. We are going to try like hell to get them all." BURY make the long trip to Colchester United on Saturday.
It will be a difficult fixture as Colchester lie just outside the play-offs, five points behind Bury.
It is a real mix-pointer on Saturday but Bury will be hoping to make it four wind out of four.
