ATHERTON Heritage Society's 'Clean and Green' campaign has expanded.
Members of the society cleared out part of Hindsford Brook, off Shakerley Lane on Saturday.
The Society's environmental officer, Derek Bullock, said: "At the request of and with help from local resident Mrs Tracey Wadsworth, we have removed accumulated rubbish and debris from the stream and the adjoining footpath.
"Mrs Wadsworth has also agreed to help maintain this stretch of stream in the future."
He added: "This latest project has expanded our area of environmental action, building on other stream cleaning projects carried out over the last 18 months, with the help of partnerships with the Mersey Basin Campaign and Wigan MBC's People & Places, on Chanters, Colliers and Knights brooks within Atherton."
