CHEAP imports and the recession were blamed for a mill's decision to make 165 people redundant and slash production.

Employees at India Mills, Darwen, were told that the jobs were to go from the spinning operation.

"Since the New Year we have continued to face an increasingly depressed yarn market and have just completed a review of our future business potential," said a company spokesman.
