ANOTHER major engine order has been won bringing new work to Rolls-Royce in East Lancashire.
Rolls-Royce's Trent engines have been chosen by International Lease Finance Corporation for a total of eight Boeing 777 and Airbus A330-200 aircraft. The order is worth £115 million to the aero engine group and launches Rolls' Trent 700 on the A330-200 - the latest and longer range version of the Airbus A330 family.
The Barnoldswick site, which employs more than 800, manufactures fan blades and front bearing housings for the Trent.
Managing director of Rolls-Royce Commercial Aero Engines, John Cheffins, said: "I am pleased that yet another customer has specified Trent power for its wide body twin purchase.
"ILFC is the sixth customer in less than four months for Trent power."
The order comes just weeks after a £100 million order from Singapore for engines to power Boeing 777s.
