A FUND-RAISING fell walker is setting off on a mammoth mountain mission this week, scaling the heights of Kilimanjaro in aid of SuperScan.
Graham Howarth, of Colne Road, Burnley, will spend six days conquering the 19,340ft African peak with a group of climbing enthusiasts.
Blackburn busker Tom Kay entertained shoppers in the market place this week and then received a surprise donation for the appeal from Blakey Moor Cafe when he went in for his lunch.
A quiz evening at the Railway Hotel, Pleasington, Blackburn, raised £90.
Events for the week ahead include a domino doubles drive at the Wilpshire Hotel, Blackburn, on Tuesday at 8.30pm. Entry is 50p and all are welcome to take part in the event, organised by Lancashire Evening Telegraph staff.

Blackburn chairman Terry Barber is asking for volunteers, who have time on their hands during the day and who may be able to provide transport, to contact him on 01254 202495.
The money is being raised to buy a life-saving Magnetic Resonance Imaging Scanner for the people of East Lancashire. It will be housed at Blackburn Royal Infirmary.
