TEN pound wins on the lottery should be guaranteed, Ribble Valley MP Nigel Evans has said.
And he is trying to get the backing of national heritage minister Virginia Bottomley to make sure the three-number winners get their reward. Mr Evans condemned Camelot and the lottery company's regulator Oflot over the announcement that winners with three numbers were no longer guaranteed the £10.
Speaking from Westminster, Mr Evans said: "Camelot have a knack of attracting bad publicity.
"First it was their profit margin and then double roll-overs and now this news about the £10 win.
"All this adverse publicity will start to damage the good name of the lottery and it will inevitably affect ticket sales.
"I am afraid that in the end it will be the good causes which suffer."
Mr Evans added that he had contacted Mrs Bottomley to ask her to step into the row to make sure the £10 win stays.
He said: "If Camelot are allowed to push this through, then I am afraid that there will be a lot of unhappy customers when they are cheated out of their £10."
