THREE goals in the final five minutes saw off a determined Salford side and set up the team nicely for Saturday's crunch FA Vase semi-final first leg clash with Mangotsfield United.
On the half hour mark a spell of Blues' pressure paid off when a Dennis Hill corner was headed in by Neil Baron.
On 68 minutes Salford levelled the scores when an accurate shot evaded the dive of Carlo Nash.
Clitheroe continued to battle and made sure of all three points with three late goals.
On 82 minutes Clive Dunn played a free-kick to Gary Butcher, who turned and fired home.
Four minutes late Andy Taylor crossed from the left for Paul Mullin to score and on 88 minutes Baron grabbed his second from a scramble.
Chorley travel away tonight to play Bamber Bridge in the semi-final of the Lancashire ATS Trophy.
Ian McGarry's Darwen are also on their travels and play Kidsgrove Athletic in the North West Counties' League First Division.
