IF you go down to the woods today you are in for a green surprise.
Grimebusting residents from Grane Road in Haslingden turned out in full force over the weekend to plant over 300 trees in Mary's Wood.
The area is owned by farmer Spike Hodbod who has created the community woodland area in memory of his late wife Mary.
He funded the project in conjunction with the International Tree Foundation.
And volunteers came out in force to help him plant the oak, ash, alder, rowan and whitebeam.
"I'd like to say a big thankyou to everyone who came along and helped," said Spike.
