GARY MONAGHAN has left Leigh RU on a cloud of success.
The winger, who has now been snapped up by Sale, was in outstanding form for Lancashire at the weekend.
His side crashed 36-16 to Warwickshire in the CIS County Championship semi-final.
But there was no denying the Monaghan quality. Chairman of selectors Ken Jones described him as "a real prospect."
And he added: "Gary has been Lancashire's Player of the Season and I'm sure with the right sort of suppprt he can really do well.
"He is quick, well-balanced and hungry for work. And he is willing to listen and learn.
"If we've done nothing else this season, at least we have given an opportunity for a talented young player to emerge and show his paces."
Monaghan has always been reluctant to leave Leigh. But he now has great chances to hit the big time with a major club like Sale.
