LEIGH MINERS are, fingers crossed, en route for a Spring revival.
They scored their first away of the season on Saturday, 28-10 at bottom club Millom.
And they will be looking for a first three-in-a-row this season when they face Mayfield at Twist Lane this weekend.
Miners began slowly in Cumbria. But, once half-backs Stuart Pugsley and Mike Devine got into tune, a win was on the cards.
Tries for Steve Smith and Devine, both goaled by Winston Sarsfield, put Miners in the driving seat, although Millom hit back to keep it tight at the break.
And another home penalty had nerves jangling. But MOM John Maxwell, barnstorming in the second row, and young prop Jason Battersby again gave Miners the initiative. And Sarsfield came good with a try and goal.
He was on target again after Martin Lee ghosted in for the touchdown.
The revival is on!
Miners U18s lost 25-18 to Eccles in the Lancashire Cup quarter-final, tries from Mark Burrows and Peter Horrocks 2 plus a trio of Chris Lee goals.
