MARK WALKER'S final flourish has lifted Blue Lion to Davenport Cup glory.

His speculative curling cross five minutes from time earned the side a shock 1-0 semi-final success against Three Crowns A in the Leigh & District Amateur Football League knockout.

The goal was totally against the run of play with Crowns creating most of the chances and forcing Steve Gregory into a series of super saves.

Peter Shepherd then hit the post as Crowns vainly sought the winner.

But on the break Lion were dangerous.

And that paid dividends with Walker's effort deceiving Ian Parker at the far post.

In Division Two a single point still divides Higher Fold and Westleigh Village B.

Fold had a tough game at Rileys, finally winning 4-3.

Andy Yeldon 2 and Elliott Hayden twice gave Rileys the edge, but Fold clinched it via Warren Knowles, Steve Connor, sub Jimmy Eckersley (scoring with almost his first touch) and a late effort from Alan White.

Village romped in 4-1 at Pheasant, who battled hard and grabbed a goal through Warren Smith.

But Village secured it with goals from Ray Peers (a well-judged lob), Jason Lee, JohnMcLoughlin and Steve Anderton.

Anthony Miller notched the solitary strike in Church's 1-0 win at Waterside while Ross's (Craig Guest 2, Craig Carter, Bryn Jones) rapped Leigh Eagles 4-1.

Three Crowns B beat Leigh Phoenix 4-1, Kevin Parker, Andy Twiss 2 and Steve Balmer on top target.
