A PROPOSAL to build 60 houses on land north of Baxenden cricket ground will be the subject of a public inquiry this summer.
But any development on the green belt site would not be allowed to start until after the year 2006.
It is hoped that the Hyndburn Borough Local Plan, which includes reserving the Baxenden site for housing, will be formally adopted early in 1997.
The council has published its response to representations received to proposed modifications to local plan policies, and this can be inspected at council offices at Eagle Street, Accrington, Great Harwood Town Hall and local libraries.
More than 300 representations have been made about the plan, the majority of which were objections to future housing development at Huncoat and at land off Willows Lane and Miller Fold Avenue, Accrington.
Anyone who wishes to make representations about the modifications in the plan should do so by May 7 by getting a form from the council offices.
