BLACKBURN Rugby Club travelled to London to play Enfield prior to the England international and recorded a convincing 36-17 win against a team who have won Middlesex this year and reached the quarter finals of the Pilkington Shield.
This was a clash of two styles with Enfield playing a very tight physical game against the more fluent Blackburn who played a very expansive game and only kicked the ball twice during the whole match.
The game started slowly, but Blackburn took the lead with a try from Peter Aikman followed soon after by a try from the ever-present and aggressive flanker Stuart Jarrold beautifully converted by Shaid Khan to make it 12-0.
Enfield then staged a comeback and some particularly inept tackling allowed them to score twice to make it 12-10 at half time.
The visitors then ran the ball out at every opportunity and further tries followed from Chris Mahon, Michael Hurley, Stuart Jarrold and the ever-reliable Martin Donaldson on the wing with conversions by Mahon and McKendry against one home try to make the final score 36-17 in a highly entertaining game.
