AFTER redeveloping at some expense and cosmetically hyping up their salad bar, Morrison's Blackburn store seems to have left out the most essential item - hygiene in the form of plastic gloves.
The previous bar functioned perfectly. The gloves were an accepted part of it. Why the change?
Hundreds of hands are handling the same implements. And hands carry germs. I've seen bacon fried on the back of a shovel, but there is no excuse for this when this store tells us: "You may shop with confidence at Morrison's."

Footnote: Sharon Swanton, deputy manager of Morrison's, Blackburn, said: "Gloves are available next to the salad bar and are included in the price of the salad. We consider the use of gloves so important that it is a manager's job to check the supply of gloves every hour. I cannot comment on why the gloves were not available on this particular occasion."
