THREE local MPs have joined calls to get the violent and controversial film Natural Born Killers banned from video release.
Burnley's Peter Pike, Ribble Valley's Nigel Evans and Chorley's Den Dover are among 100 MPs from all parties to sign a Commons Motion.
It says they are "appalled" that the British Board of Film Classification have classified the film for video release with cuts. They claim that this breaches the BBFC's duty to protect children and other vulnerable viewers from gratuitously violent videos in view of Natural Born Killers excessive violence as Woody Harrelson and Juliette Lewis engage in a Bonnie and Clyde style shooting spree across the US.
The MPs want the BBFC to reconsider its decision, Warner Brothers to stop the release of the video, and the government to investigate if the BBFC is in breach of its statutory duty.
