SOME people in East Lancashire have been left so distraught by the Dunblane massacre that they are seeking counselling to help them through the trauma.
They have been turning to social services to help them cope with their distress at the slaughter of 16 children and their teacher a week ago.
Councillor Joan Humble, chairman of the Social Services Committee, said: "People have been ringing up needing someone to talk to.
"We need to let people know that Lancashire social services are here to give support and advice."
The council has written to Central Regional Council, which covers Dunblane, offering any help it can give.
Coun Alan Hackett told the Education Committee: "This is something that has touched every teacher, every parent, every pupil."
A Lancashire County Council spokeswoman said anyone needing to talk about the events could call the special support helpline on 01786 442525.
She said people needing further assistance would then be referred to social services.
