LANCASTER may be in line to hold yet another prestigious international event.
The city's tourist chiefs are urging the Mayor of Lancaster to throw down the gauntlet to the French town of Sedan.
And the nature of this historic tournament would be, wait for it, Sedan Chair racing.
Lancaster already has an annual Sedan Chair Championship and Cllr Abbott Bryning wants the town of Sedan to enter a team in the national championships to be held next summer.
Who knows, if the Lancaster race is turned into an international event then many top teams could be attracted from around the world. Next stop the Olympics.
