THE War of the Roses is alive and well - and living in Foulridge!
It may be more than 21 years since bureaucrats unceremoniously booted Yorkshire tykes into Lancashire, but some locals still have not come to terms with the news.
The latest skirmish in the border clashes has brought in more heavy artillery from the signwriting brigade, and has given Lancashire the edge in the propaganda war.
It comes in the form of an impressive Lancashire sign in bold capital letters, complete with a red and yellow chevronned shield decorated with three red roses.
The signwriter also reminds passers-by of the county's royal connections by including the word Palatine.
Locals are at a loss to know who is responsible for the latest roadside decoration.
It is being seen as a firm repost to the rival Yorkshire sign erected across the road a few months ago. It welcomes travellers to the White Rose county as they head for Kelbrook.
