JUNIOR newshounds at Dallas Road School in Lancaster learned what it was like to be on deadline when they put together their own newspapers last week. Citizen reporter Alex Tate was at the school to help children select and write stories for their tricky task of producing a six page newspaper from scratch in just one school day. The event was part of a national initiative in schools supported by the Times Education Supplement in which children around the country were encouraged to spend a day as a reporter. Headmaster Steve Belbin said: "This is a great way to teach quite young children about the world and how to work together as a team and helps with different writing styles."
