TRIUMPHANT Clitheroe Football Club have been invited to lunch at the House of Commons on the Friday before their FA Vase appearance at Wembley.
Their delighted MP Nigel Evans wants to congratulate the team on getting to the final of the top amateur football trophy.
The Ribble Valley Tory was delighted when Clitheroe beat Mangotsfield on Saturday.
And now he has rearranged his diary to join thousands of Clitheroe people to cheer on their team against Brigg from Lincolnshire on May 12.
Mr Evans said: "I, and the entire town, am proud of their fantastic achievement.
"They played really well on Saturday and the match could not have been more dramatic with the right result at the end of the day.
"I have rearranged my diary so I can go to Wembley to shout in support of the lads, and no doubt most of Clitheroe is doing the same.
"It is tremendous for our area that the team have won their way through this challenging competition to get to the final.
"I hope they are able to join me in Westminster to celebrate their victories to date.
"I have written to the chairman, Steve Rush, inviting him and the team to visit the House of Commons for lunch on the Friday before the final."
