GOLBETROTTER Adrian Heath is heading for the continent - for a spot of Euro-shopping.
The Clarets player-boss is planning a flying visit to either Germany or Holland on Sunday to check out two potential targets.
And I understand he already has a Dutch star firmly in his sights as he begins the task of bolstering his Burnley squad.
"I am planning a possible trip to Europe and it will be a good opportunity to have a look at the players I have in mind," he said.
"They both come very highly recommended and, I understand, are keen to play in England."
Heath would not reveal the identities of his two targets. But he has already spoken with their agents.
He added: "They are very good players and I want to try and get one or two wheels in motion. If not for this campaign, then perhaps for the summer and the start of next season." Heath is conscious that the recent Bosman ruling will increase the availability of continental players - at an affordable price. And he still retains major European contacts from his career with Barcelona-based Espanol.
"I would like to think I could have a couple of continental players at Turf Moor next season."
Heath was still busy on the domestic transfer front today as he bids to strengthen his squad before tomorrow's 5pm transfer deadline.
One recent target, striker Carl Griffths, now looks set for a move to Burnley's Divsion Two rivals Peterborough United.
Meanwhile, there is brighter news on the injury front today with Heath himself, defender Peter Swan, Liam Robinson and striker Ian Helliwell all looking as though they could be back in contention for Saturday's trip to Wycombe Wanderers.
The weekend trip to Adams Park could be too early for Helliwell, but Swan will definitely feature. However, he is unlikely to be risked in tonight's Pontins League fixture against Mansfield Town at Turf Moor (7.15pm).
Neither Helliwell nor Swan have played under the Heath regime due to injury, but the player-boss added: "Having Peter Swan back and Ian Helliwell close to full fitness is a major boost.
"It is like having a couple of new signings available. It gives me more options, which is vital if I'm going to change the team round a little bit."
