A TERRIFIED truck driver was beaten and robbed in broad daylight after stopping to ask directions in a busy town centre street, it was revealed today.
The 41-year-old victim stopped his vehicle in Montague Street, Blackburn, and approached four youths.
Three of the youths restrained and assaulted the driver while the fourth entered the cab of the vehicle and stole a wallet, cash and car phone.
A spokesman for Blackburn CID said the attack must have been witnessed and urged anyone who could help to come forward. He added: "The three youths got hold of him and repeatedly punched him.
"This happened in a very busy thoroughfare in the town centre. A passing motorist or pedestrian must have witnessed it."
The attack took place at 2.15pm on Monday, March 18, when the driver was making deliveries.
The attackers are all believed to be white and aged 16.
One was 5ft 7ins tall, with dark brown hair which was shaved at the sides and long on top. He was wearing blue jeans and a black donkey- jacket-style coat.
Another was 5ft 8ins, of stocky build, with short dark brown collar-length hair, unshaven, and wearing purple shell suit bottoms, black-boot-type trainers and a green bomber jacket.
