BLACKPOOL Football Club has fought back against the effects of the National Lottery by notching up increased sales in its fundraising schemes.
While other clubs are losing out to National Lottery fever, Blackpool has reversed the trend with the highest door-to-door sales of the Play The Game ticket for 35 weeks, as well seeing an upturn in the weekly Gold Bond draw.
As a thank-you to supporters, Gold Bond prize money has increased to include a weekly jackpot of £2,000 as well as a £5,000 top prize each month.
In addition, the club has joined with several league counterparts to launch the Premier Instant scratch card offering a top prize of £25,000 and better odds than any other card on the market.
The club is keen to point out it is only connected to these three fundraising schemes.
Blackpool's commercial manager Geoff Warburton commented: "The National Lottery took up to 30 per cent of our trade during the first 12 months but now we are fighting back.
"We are grateful for the support of local people, especially now they are returning in numbers to join the Gold Bond scheme.
"The prizes are bigger and better than ever, all guaranteed, and we are just waiting for people to join up so we can pay them out.
"Anyone can win money - they don't have to come to the games or be a supporter."
The first £5,000 prize will be drawn tomorrow (March 29) by John Budd Solicitors and an appeal has gone out for new Gold Bond agents to collect from family and friends.
