PEOPLE who have been baptised at St Nathaniel's Parish Church in Platt Bridge are invited to take another dip - into their pockets!
A major internal revamp at St Nathaniel's means the parish needs to find £30,000 towards the cost of work.
Moving the font from the rear to the front of the church to make way for the new community centre will cost around £400.
Churchwarden Dave Jones explained:"Already £3,400 has been raised by the sale of pews but this is already spoken for to cover other work.
"We invite all the hundreds of people, or parents of children, who have been baptised, or are about to be baptised, at St Nathaniel's to make a donation so the font can again be used for Christenings."
At the moment a small wooden stand is being used for baptisms.
Anyone who wants to help should contact Mr Jones on 01942 523493 or send their donation to The Font Fund, The Vicarage, Ridyard Street, Platt Bridge, WN2 3TD. Cheques should be made payable to 'St Nathaniel's Church'.
