AN Atherton pensioner is angry that his letter box is being used for postal deliveries to other parts of the town.
And 78 years-old Cyril Young says he is "getting knackered" after rolling out his mountain bike to do the postman's job for him.
Explaining his dilemma, the Everest Road pensioner told The Journal:
"The door number of my house is 56, so the Atherton postmen deliver to me all the letters bearing the number 56 of all other roads and streets in Atherton. The letters are correctly and clearly addressed to the other roads, but they continue to come through my letterbox."
The former civil servant added: "Originally I re-delivered some to their correct destination. My mode of transport is a mountain bike and the carcass pedalling it is now 78 years old, and to use the colloquial term, I'm getting knackered!"
Mr. Young said he had requested the postmaster to amend the sorting and delivery system but despite the request he still receives other people's mail.
He said: "I guess I must have received in excess of 15 or 16 wrong deliveries in the past few months, some from the other end of Atherton. I'm tired of it."
A Post Office spokeswoman told The Journal: "We are very concerned that Mr. Young is getting other people's post and we will certainly be looking into it immediately to sort out the problem. We will also be writing to Mr. Young to offer our sincere apologies."
