AMBITIOUS Rebecca Ellison of Wellfield High School, Leyland, has been chosen as this year's Leyland Festival Queen.
The pretty 16-year-old is a keen dancer and mathematician and has ambitious plans as an amassador for Leyland.
She'd love to set up her own dance school and provide more entertainment for young people in the town. And she's delighted to be chosen as Festival Queen.
Her mum Christine, said: "She's very excited indeed. I said to her, just because you're queen it doesn't mean I'm doing your ironing. Later she was in her sash and tiara ironing her clothes."
Rebecca beat off 23 other entrants in the competition to find an ambassador to represent Leyland in the festival on June 1.
Judges at the contest, held at the Leyland Motors and Social Club, were retiring queen Lisa Wright, Citizen reporter Caroline Hastie, beauty therapist Karen Devine, festival photographer Roy Turner, chairman of Leyland Festival Peter Dawson, and Judy Bruck of the festival committee. Rebecca's attendants are Gemma Garnett, 16, and Dawn Hindle, 15.
