ON January 29, in the core of a nuclear reactor at Heysham Two power station, a fuel rod became stuck. The cave could have become overheated, leading to the possibility of a meltdown.
We are informed that this was a 'one-off'. Three Mile Island, Chernobyl - now how far off is the next 'one-off?'
