NIGHTCLUB bosses are desperately seeking a former go-go dancer called Wendy Lee.
Wendy was one of the original podium dancers at the old Cavendish club, now Peppermint Place, in the mid-Seventies.
Now Peppermint Place is about to be re-named Utopia in a multi-million pound re-fit and will once again feature its own regular dancers.
And the owners want Wendy and the other original go-go girls to help them choose the next generation of dancers at the club.
Auditions will be held in shopping centres throughout the area soon but the management has warned that they are looking for top performers. "Dancers must be professional or semi-professional and have the stamina to dance with lots of energy for four 25-minute sets," said a spokesman for club owners First Leisure.
"If you are a podium dancer you are not there to hang out and drink at the bar. It is a job which requires dedication and flare."
The dancers, both men and women, will have to perform in chrome cages on five podiums raised 4ft from the ground.
As well as looking for Wendy, the club would also like to hear from the other original dancers from the Seventies, such as Allwyn Clarkson, Sue Parker, Sue Atkinson and Beverley Williams.
Of course, they may well have since married and changed their names or left the area.
Anyone who knows about these dancers should contact reporter Mark Woodhouse on Blackburn 678678.
