RUNNERS from St Stephen's CE School in Burnley beat 360 children to scoop the honours at a district cross country championships.
The event, around Towneley Holmes, attracted entries from 25 primary schools in the Burnley and Padiham education district.
A course of 1.5 miles was raced over by 174 girls and 186 boys and Carol Glover and Luke Entwistle, both year six at St Stephen's, came out tops.
Carol is a member of Burnley Athletics Club and enjoys swimming, netball, rounders and diving while Luke is a good all round sportsman who enjoys football.
The school was also second to Park Hill Convent School in the small school boys' team which also included Martin Walker, Andrew Conroy and Ian Young.
The larger school team competition was won by St James CE School Lanehead.
