THE Blues returned to winning ways in fine style at Surrey Street, producing a performance full of determination, skill and hard work.
From the outset Clitheroe went all out for victory, with the first quarter of an hour particularly frantic for the Glossop defence.
On 36 minutes Paul Mullin's crossfield ball found Clive Dunn whose first time shot was again well saved by the keeper.
The resulting corner was floated in by Chris Grimshaw, which was powerfully met by Neil Baron to send Clitheroe into a deserved lead.
The second half continued in much the same vein with Paul Mullin going close on 60 minutes when he latched onto a long ball forward, but his attempted chip of the advancing keeper was just over the bar.
With quarter of an hour to go Geoff Smith came on for Gary Butcher, and he immediately caused the Glossop keeper to make yet another fine save.
With three minutes left on the clock, substitute Andy Darbyshire latched onto a cross from Grimshaw, turned in the box and fired the ball home to seal the victory for the Blues.
