COCK-A-HOOP Chorley produced a classy display to demonstrate the qualities which have taken them to the FA Trophy semi-finals and were comfortable winners over a disappointing Leek side.

Despite the advantage of a fifth minute goal, when Darren Twigg cashed in on a stumble by Andy Thorpe, Leek had no answer to Chorley's precise passing game in the first half and were fortunate not to be four down at the break.

Mark Wright rattled a post from 25 yards before Brian Ross, from Paul Comstive's pass, equalised at the second attempt on 19 minutes.

A classic strike followed five minutes later when Lee Trundle, again at his creative best, cleverly picked out Ross who promptly swept in his 28th goal of the season.

Only a brave block by keeper Tony Bullock denied Ross a quick hat-trick with the Leek defence again in embarrassing disarray.

A double substitution, however, at half time stiffened Leek's resistance and as they came much more into the game Simon Marsh in the Chorley goal brilliantly turned over a fierce close range shot from David Sutton.

Ten minutes from the end Leek lost keeper Bullock, dramatically sent off for an ill-chosen remark to a linesman, and his replacement was unable to keep out a blistering shot from Dave McKearney which sealed Chorley's victory with four minutes to go.

Chorley continue their UniBond Premier Division programme tonight with an away game against Winsford United.
