AMBULANCE bosses hoped they could ease the pressure on East Lancashire mercy crews.
Talks had been held with Accrington's control officers after they sent a warning letter to the regional health chief that the present risk could not be allowed to continue.
The controllers protested after a third of emergency ambulances were axed at the start of March to cope with a cash crisis.
