BLACKBURN Golf Club player Tony Jackson and Darwen's John Grimshaw boosted their Lancashire prospects when they won twice for Red Rose teams over the weekend.
The county B side were beaten 10-8 by their Cumbria counterparts at Heysham despite Jackson despatching Steve Hunter four and two and Grimshaw eclipsing the Furness man's club mate Paul Lawrie two and one.
The pair were drafted into the Rest of Lancashire team at short notice against Southport GA the following day at Ormskirk when Clitheroe duo Paul Dwyer and Stewart Andrew opted instead to play in the Berkhampsted Trophy.
And they delivered the goods again as Lancashire won by the massive margin of 15-2.
Accrington greenkeeper Trevor Foster, Nelson's Nick Uttley and Rossendale's Gary Morton - members of Lancashire grand slam team last year - also won the matches.
Accrington's Damien Taylor, son of snooker star Dennis, and namesake Ian Taylor, of Clitheroe, both shot 72 at St Annes Old Links yesterday to qualify for the Mizuno Tournament and Lindrick Vulcan Trophy.
