VANDALS went on a wrecking spree causing thousands of pounds of damage to a council house abandoned by the tenant.
The house in Hazel Avenue on St James's estate, Darwen, had to be boarded up by Blackburn Council workmen after the weekend attack.
Windows had been smashed and fittings ripped out.
A woman living on the estate, said: "The vandals caused a real mess.
