A STRETCH of road where a man was seriously hurt in an accident has been described as a death trap by his daughter.

Police had to deal with three serious accidents on the road between Church and West End in just one day.

A toddler was left fighting for his life in a Leeds hospital after an accident outside his home in Dill Hall Lane.

Jack Cox, 53, was taken to Blackburn Royal Infirmary with multiple injuries following a second incident in Henry Street.

And two-year-old Elliot Thomas Donlon was rushed to Leeds General Hospital, under a police escort.

The youngster was on the critical list but a spokesman for the hospital has described his condition as "stable".

Mr Cox from Dineley Street, Church, suffered a fractured skull, two broken legs and multiple fractures of his hips.

Two motorcyclists were also taken to BRI with minor leg injuries after an earlier crash in Henry Street.

Ashley Cox, the 25-year-old daughter of the retired electrician, said: "It is going to take months for my father to get over this accident.

"He has had one operation and is likely to have at least two or three more in the next few weeks.

"The doctors have also said that he will have to have plastic surgery on one of his legs."

Miss Cox added: "That stretch of road from Dill Hall Lane is a death trap and something should be done about it as soon as possible.

"People come down the hill towards the lights at ridiculous speeds and if the lights are on green there is nothing to stop them until West End.

"My father was very, very lucky not to have died last week and what happened to that youngster was dreadful.

"It is about time they built some speed bumps to slow the traffic coming down the hill."
