BLACKBURN'S increase in Council Tax does not tie in with the extravagance evident at Copy Nook, bordering on Audley Lane, where the council has had landscaped a previously grassed area.
Trees and plants have been arranged, with blue tubular fencing around; and in the centre is a circular brick structure.
The latter has been vandalised. The plants have been walked through and even cycled through.
The plants are also a trap for litter, some of which is deposited by customers of a nearby takeaway.
When the area was grass, it was a pleasant sight. Now, it is an eyesore.
I complained to Mr Chris Caldwell at the town hall, whose department is responsible, and suggested the area should be returned to its grassed state. But he did not agree, and has instructed the landscapers to make repairs and then his department will assume responsibility for maintenance.
The aforementioned takeaway is an attraction for youths. They walk to and fro through the landscaped area and are an irritation to residents, but the council and police ignore the situation.
