SATURDAY'S important FA Trophy date at Macclesfield cannot come soon enough for Chorley, who let victory slip from their grasp through lack of concentration in the closing minutes of a game they should have won.
The Magpies often outclassed the hard working but uninspired Bay whose defence was repeatedly tormented by Lee Trundle's full range of ball skills.
But though they created a host of openings Chorley's solitary goal proved insufficient insurance against a late rally from the visitors.
After Bay had made the early running, Chorley took charge and the visiting keeper did well to turn aside a cleverly angled header from Brian Ross.
Grant Leitch and Kenny Mayers both went very close before Graham Roberts wasted a great chance for Bay just before half time.
Ross should have done better than fire over from short range on the restart and though the Magpies pressed repeatedly they had to wait until the 72 minute for a goal, when Ross chased Mayers' lofted pass down the left and crossed for Steve Hook to score with a first time rising shot.
Chorley seemed to have the points in safe keeping until hustled into defensive uncertainty in the closing stages and seven minutes from the end Gareth Drury was given too much time and room on the right and centred for Peter Donnelly to score with a far post header.
