A PRESTON man chased a thief after he made off with a charity collecting tin during the egg rolling festivities at Avenham Park on Easter Monday.
Michael Appleby, of Penwortham, gave chase after he saw the young thief steal the tin from the Preston Animal Welfare Society' s mascot Lenny the Lion.
Michael said: "I chased him down to the river but lost him in the crowds. He threw the tin into the river stuffing the money into his pockets and running towards Avenham."
The thief, aged 16-18, was about 5ft 10ins, with bright orange hair, he wore a black ski hat, black denim jeans, and a padded jacket. Contact police on 203203 if you can help.
