WINNING their way to the regional finals of a national schools competition run by the army's initiative, School Challenger, Bury Grammar School have designed an obstacle course fit to challenge anyone competing against schools in their region. The school impressed the team of judges with their ingenuity and originality.

The course was designed for 11-14-year-olds and was made up of obstacles which considered safety, the use of the senses and teamwork.

Their next challenge is to beat the other four regional finalists who will be at Whittington Barracks, Lichfield, on May 16.

By presenting their design to a panel of judges and completing a real army obstacle course the team will be attempting to win a place in the National Finals.

They will be held at the army exhibition for schools in Bassingbourne on July 2.

There, the top four school challenger teams in the country will compete for the coveted army-initiated title tempting today's young people into the great outdoors.
