WORKERS downed tools and staged a sit-in after hearing in the local chip shop their factory was up for sale.
The action came after workers at Caleb Duckworth Ltd, Colne, discovered a neighbouring company was negotiating to buy the Phillips Lane works.
The non-union workforce of about 40 ceased production while company managing director travelled from the Bedford headquarters to talk to them.
