TWO police officers were taken to Whiston Hospital on Tuesday night after their patrol car crashed on the way to an emergency call.
PCs Steve Fletcher, 35, and Mark Holland, 34, - who have about 18 years service between them - were on there way to a disturbance outside the Lincoln Square pub in Bridge Street at 11.36pm when the car crashed into a lamppost on Baldwin Street, St Helens.
PC Fletcher who was driving the car suffered head and facial injuries and was discharged from Whiston Hospital on Wednesday morning.
PC Holland, who sustained chest injuries in the crash is still detained in hospital.
A spokesman for Merseyside police, said: "One of the police officers got out of the car following the crash and collapsed on the road. Both the officers were taken to hospital. Our inspectors have removed the car for inspection."
