CUSTOMERS at leading greetings card retailers Birthdays have raised over £100,000 from charity cards bought at Christmas. Three of the UK's major charities, Cancer Research Campaign NSPCC and Age Concern will share the money equally.
During Christmas last year the Bury-based company sold a range of individually priced traditional design charity Christmas cards. Sold at three prices - 29p, 49p and 69p - ten per cent of the proceeds went to the charities.
Birthdays retail sales director Nick Cooke presented cheques for £34,138.69 to each of the three charities at an informal lunch at Birthdays head office in Bury.
"We are delighted to have been able to raise such an outstanding amount of money for the charities concerned and that's thanks to our very generous customers throughout the whole of the UK" he said.
