SATURDAY'S home match against Peterborough United is a good opportunity for Burnley to get some much needed points - but it's an opportunity they must take.

The 1-0 defeat at second-from-bottom Brighton on Tuesday night was another to blow to the Clarets' second division survival hopes.

Adrian Heath has set a target of eight points from the last seven games to avoid the drop. It may not sound much, but in present form Burnley will struggle to get a single point between now and the end of the season.

However, Peterborough are also hovering above the relegation zone, and their visit provides a real chance for the Clarets to take their first three points since Heath's first match in charge.

Heath has said is he sick of telling his defence about the importance of not making elementary mistakes, but the message must have been drummed home by now.

Burnley will have to fight for every point, and the fans will not complain if the club stays up by scraping some boring 1-0 victories - survival is everything now.

Whatever happens now, it will be done without wing wizard Ted McMinn. Tin Man, one of the fans' favourites over recent seasons and an important figure in the Wembley play-off two years ago, has left Turf Moor by mutual consent.

McMinn was transfer-listed due to personal problems several months ago by Jimmy Mullen, and it seems the same problems have cause the move now.

David Eyres missed Tuesday's game with flu, but he should be back in reckoning for Saturday, and in-form Liam Robinson would be unlucky to miss out on a place in the starting line up.

Heath will probably make another move for Darlington's highly rated defender, Matthew Appleby, over the summer. The Burnley boss's £160,000 offer was turned down just before the transfer deadline.
