ON a recent visit to East Lancashire, I decided, against the advice of friends, to shop in Blackburn, and I visited the 'famous' Tommy Ball's. The unfortunate outcome was a £60 clamping charge.

I expect nothing from the operators, for I have learned of their reputation. However, I was surprised that shops around this clamping area did not put up notices to warn their customers.

In future I may take the advice given and shop at Winfields where there is ample car parking, and where clampers are kept at bay.
