CHORLEY boss Dave Sutton will sweat on a last minute Dean Emerson fitness test before naming the side he hopes can complete the final few steps on the road to Wembley.

The Magpies travel to GM Vauxhall Conference high-flyers and champions Macclesfield Town in the first leg of the FA Trophy semi-final tomorrow. And the 33-year-old Emerson, with a wealth of league experience at Stockport, Rotherham, Coventry and Hartlepool, is a key element of Sutton's plans.

The midfield maestro twisted his ankle in the dying moments of Easter Monday's 1-1 draw with Colwyn Bay.

He will undergo a fitness test on Saturday morning and his chances are rated as 50-50.

Sutton is already without right back Paul Fleming, out with a pulled hamstring, and Dave McKearney will fill that slot.

But the Chorley boss knows his men are capable of causing an upset and reaching the Wembley final on May 19. "We beat Gateshead, who are also in the Conference, quite convincingly in the end.

"They are odds on favourites but we can beat anybody on our day," Sutton said. Chorley are likely to start: Marsh, McKearney, Wright, Thorpe, Hook, Emerson or Doyle, Leitch, Mayers, Ross, Trundle, Critchley. Subs from: Worthington, Ellerby, Chadwick.

Macclesfield boss Sammy McIlroy has been dogged by injuries to a number of key players thoughout the week but, with the exception of left back Neil Bradshaw, can now choose from a fully fit squad. The squad is: Price, Edey, Howarth, Payne, Gardner, Lyons, Sorvil, Hulme, Hemmings, Power, Coates, Wood, Cavell, Norman, Hutchinson.
