AROUND 60 residents of Crawshawbooth met by the River Limy to fish out tyres, bicycle frames and other debris as part of a community clean-up in National Spring Clean Week. The event was originally to coincide with the village's festival next month but organiser and festival committee chairman Alan Ross thought this weekend was better timing.
Local youngsters will be putting the finishing touches to a mural on the theme of wildlife and the environment alongside the river next weekend.
Mr Ross wants to hear from anyone who can donate a mess tent or suitable awning to serve cream teas from at the main event of the festival on May 12 - contact him on Rossendale 226128 or 830796.
