AN Easter fun day sparked off a week of fund raising with more than £5,000 banked into the SuperScan coffers.

The cash - collected at the car boot sale and Easter games afternoon organised by the Cemetery Hotel, Darwen - will soon be added to the appeal total, which this week has shot to £79,696.

Workers at Darwen Health Centre have been organising fund-raising events and have presented a cheque for £600.

Also hard at work have been members of the Tockholes Village Community who raised £42 at a cheese and wine party.

Coming soon is an evening of Asian music and entertainment, including the group Dostana who will be performing at King George's Hall, Blackburn, on Friday April 26.

There is also a coffee evening and scanner presentation at the Good Shepherd Church Hall, Earl Street, Blackburn, on Thursday, April 25, at 7.30pm.
