A MADCAP soccer fan is planning to make his own dream come true.

Peter Goodship dreamed that he walked to Wembley to watch his heroes Clitheroe FC play in the final of the FA Vase. Now the football fanatic is set to make it a reality.

Peter, of Quarry Farm Court, Chatburn, and friends Simon Thompson, 17, of Talbot Close and Matt Garner, 15, of Whalley Road, both Clitheroe, will set off for Wembley on Sunday May 5 and hope to complete the 220-mile walk to the FA Vase final on May 12. The effort will raise money for the Lewis Jackson Appeal Fund to buy vital hospital equipment in memory of the Clitheroe tot who died last year.

Peter, 26, said: "I had the dream so my wife persuaded me to go ahead with it. In the dream we were walking along drinking vodka. I don't think we will be doing that!"

The intrepid walkers are looking for sponsorship and hope to sell advertising space on a caravan to local businesses at £25 for a "square" of space.

Anyone interested can call Peter on 01200 440231 or Mrs Jackson on 01200 443546.
