A GROUP of Scouts have been celebrating their 30th anniversary in style with a service attended by civic and Scouting dignitaries.
Darwen Bold Venture Park Scout Group have been meeting in their unique headquarters in the park's Ashton Memorial since they renovated the building in 1966. To celebrate their anniversary, the group invited Blackburn mayor Coun Maureen Bateson and mayoress Margery Caville to a service and award presentation ceremony. County commissioner Ken Jackson gave Bold Venture Scout leader Ian Ashton an Acorn Award for distinguished service and district commissioner George Grime presented Barbara Timms, Cub Scout leader, with a long-service decoration.
Richard Done and Jonathon Timms received their warrants to enable them to become leaders, and Scout-thanks badges were also presented to Annie Grime, Christine Smith and Pat Ashton in recognition of their service to the group over the years.
More than 150 former members and leaders attended the service.
